Club Clean Up Day
Saturday May 2nd
8:00am to 11:00am
On May 2nd , from 8:00 am to 11:00 am, we’ll be holding Club Clean Up Day.
I am asking you to give 3 hours to get the Club ready for the Spring season.
We have projects on all the outside ranges and roads, and we’ve got members in each area to lead the work. You can help on the archery range and stations, the outdoor range, the shotgun fields… We’re splitting wood, giving a fresh face to the fields and berms, moving clays, and especially reclaiming the road edges from the winter storms.
You don’t need any specialized equipment. Bring some gloves, a rake and shovel, some loppers, weed whacker, or a leaf blower.
Clean Up Day is a great time to meet a few of our new members or see a longtime friend.
Volunteer – Help – Commit – Have fun - give 3 hours
Watch our Social Media and your email for more information as the day gets closer.
All Ranges except the Indoor Range will remain closed until 12:00 noon to allow us to work safely and concentrate on the most important Club activity for that day.
Thank you,
Dan Paige Sr.
President

If you’d like to learn how to tie a few popular flies, join us for two dates in April for these free mingle and learn sessions led by member Shaun Ruge. Shaun says, “if you are new to fly-tying, we’ll help walk you through it step by step. Each week I’ll bring materials and a vise - enough materials for all, but please bring a vise if you have one. We’ll talk through the basics of the pattern, tie a couple, share tying tips and fishing techniques and a few fish stories along the way. Very informal, just show up and hang out, share what you know.”
While the get togethers are free, donations are gratefully accepted and will be used to buy materials for future get togethers.
You can register by e-mailing Shaun directly at eidolon.fishing@gmail.com
All dates run from 7:30 – 9:00PM in the clubhouse upstairs meeting room.
Registration is limited to Bass River members and their families.
4/7/26 Squid - Red Can Squid
One of the fastest large squid flies to tie designed by a Cape & Islands legend, Jaime Boyle. Effective in the spring rips, I use synthetic Steve Farrar SF Blend fibers and incorporates use of large eye spots and UV epoxy resins.
4/21/26 Surface – Gurglers & Poppers
Gurglers are an effective floating surface pattern designed to move water by Jack Gartside. Incorporates craft foam and hackle palmering technique. Poppers are loud and simple ties that don’t require much artistry or technique. The March session tying Flatwings was enjoyed by all!

Greetings from the range.
Our junior shooters had a strong session this week, focusing on prone fundamentals like breath control, sight alignment, and smooth trigger work.
Beyond the range, these athletes are building discipline, patience, and sportsmanship—skills that will serve them well in all areas of life.
Our program continues to highlight how youth shooting sports provide a unique opportunity for growth, regardless of traditional athletic ability. With continued support we look forward to expanding opportunities, increasing participation, and giving these young shooters even more chances to challenge themselves and succeed.
We supply pizza and munchies while running four practice matches per week, Two on Wednesday 6-8 PM and Two on Saturday 9-11 AM.
For only $10 a practice, this still might be the best deal around.

Bass River Rod & Gun Club thrives with active member participation. Despite an expanding volunteer base, we face a common challenge - 80% of the work is done by 20% of our members. To realize our full potential, members' time, talents, and dues are essential.
