Farewell 2025, Welcome 2026!
2025 is ending. We are coming to the quiet time at the club.
I hope everyone has enjoyed this last week of the year. I know our members have made the Holidays a bit brighter for many in the town of Yarmouth.
Our Annual Donations Challenge allowed us to bring more than $10,000 in gift cards and toys to the Yarmouth Police Department, where they distribute them to those in need.
Many of our members donated to help our Junior programs as well.
Thank you all for your generosity.
If you are looking for something new for this colder part of the year, please consider trying one of the sports that you haven’t done. The Pistol Team, Archery, Action Shooting and Junior Rifle are all offering their sports indoors.
Check the Club Calendar for dates and times for those events.
On behalf of the Directors, Chairs, and Officers, thank you for a great 2025, and we hope you enjoy all the club offers in 2026.
Sincerely,
Dan Paige Sr.
President

Massachusetts Hunting Survey
The Massachusetts Sportsmen’s Council and the Massachusetts Conservation Alliance have asked all members to take a quick survey to support hunting in Massachusetts. The Department of Fish and Game (DFG) Commissioner Tom O’Shea announced at the Fisheries and Wildlife Board meeting in December that the administration will hold public listening sessions in early 2026 to consider additional tools to manage the deer population, including allowing for expanded hunting season or hunting on Sundays. Massachusetts is one of two states in the country that does not allow Sunday hunting. The Massachusetts sporting community seeks to retain control over the ethical and lawful management of all wildlife, with decision-making authority residing with the Division of Fisheries and Wildlife (MassWildlife). To further our input with the Board the Massachusetts Sportsman’s Council has asked that anyone who hunts or supports hunting in Massachusetts take this survey.
The results will go to the Southeast Representative on the 7-person Division of Fish and Wildlife Board of Directors.
Click on the link below and you will be directed to a brief survey concerning hunting in Massachusetts.

"Volunteers don't get paid, not because they're worthless, but because they're priceless." – Sherry Anderson
|
Bass River Rod & Gun Club thrives with active member participation. Despite an expanding volunteer base, we face a common challenge - 80% of the work is done by 20% of our members. To realize our full potential, members' time, talents, and dues are essential.
We need your help in filling the following positions:
Archery Instructor & Archery Assistants: If you're an archery instructor, or willing to be trained as an instructor - or, if you are willing to help open and supervise the archery range on an alternating schedule, contact Bill DiNatale by clicking HERE.
Rifle Instructor & Jr. Rifle Assistants: If you're a rifle instructor, or willing to be trained as an instructor to help with the Junior Rifle Program, contact Greg Gnadiek by clicking HERE.
To hear more about these positions, please email us by clicking HERE.

Reporting a Loan of a Firearm to the State Could Result in Surrendering Ownership Rights
Under the new laws enacted under Chapter 135 of the Acts of 2024, the Commonwealth now requires licensed gun owners to file a report if they loan a gun to another individual for more than six days.

Protect Your Gun Rights - Support The Civil Rights Coalition Massachusetts voters face a tough reality: under our State Constitution, laws can’t be fixed piece by piece. It’s all or nothing. This means that if we don’t take action, H4885/Chapter 135 will remain on the books, with all its harmful consequences. It’s a poorly written law that doesn’t address crimes committed with guns or the never-ending cycle of capture, release, capture, re-release of criminals.
This sweeping law, passed under the pretense of modernization, puts everyday people in impossible situations: Plea Bargaining Gun Charges are still allowed. District Attorneys have zero restrictions on plea bargaining out Gun Offenses, which are often the first charges dropped by DA’s. Prohibits Non-Resident Junior Hunting. How does that stop violent crime? Approximately 21,000 Law Abiding Residents have now been retroactively declared Felons. Previously, to own a semi-automatic shotgun or rifle for duck hunting, required a Firearms ID Card. As of October 2, 2024, those people now need a License to Carry. Mandatory firearm registration—even for family heirlooms or antique hunting equipment. Bans on legally owned magazines, penalizing responsible citizens for items they’ve legally owned for decades. Overcomplicated licensing processes, with limited access to live-fire ranges for training. Extensive, Intrusive tracking databases, targeting lawful citizens while failing to address violent crime. Chemical Defense Sprays need a Firearm License. Why make young women defenseless against attacks? Click HERE To Support The Civil Rights Coalition!
