Return of the Mid Month Trifecta

We recently brought back the Mid-Month Trifecta, a short newsletter designed to spotlight one or two departments or share something important for the Club and our members.

It will arrive midway through the month as a complement to the regular monthly newsletter, giving readers something new, a deeper look at a topic, or an important update from the Club.

This refreshed edition also includes new graphics, featuring a stylized, color version of our logo.

You won’t find all the links to the Club and our other associations here.  Those will remain in the regular monthly newsletter. The Mid-Month Trifecta is meant to be a focused update with fresh features and timely messages.

Thank you to the Chairs for providing the content, and to Vic and Kevin for organizing it and bringing it to you.

We hope you enjoy it and look forward to sharing future editions.

Sincerely,

Dan Paige Sr.,

Club President

Calling Bass River Rod And Gun Club Members

Being a Range Safety Officer is critical to the club's operations, if you are willing to step up and become an RSO now is your chance. So, help the club while you get to meet new members and see interesting firearms. We are offering an NRA Range Safety Officer class on June 13th and 14th. The club subsidizes the cost of the class in exchange for a commitment to serve 20 hours each year. Please see the RSO training agreement immediately below.

Range Safety Officer Training Agreement

In acknowledgment of Bass River Rod & Gun Club paying for your training as an NRA Range Safety Officer, you understand and agree with the following:

  • The club will pay for your course instruction and materials at a club-sponsored training event.
  • You are responsible for securing credentials from the NRA - at a cost of $40 for NRA members, and $175 for non-members.
  • You agree that upon completion of the course, to volunteer 20 hours as an RSO per year following your completion of the course.

It is our hope that with completion of the course and integration into the RSO program, that you will realize the personal benefits associated with volunteer service and continue to grow within the Bass River Rod and Gun club community.

If you are interested, please email Brian McCormack at education@bassriverrodandgun.com or call 774-521-8924.

Range Safety Officer Update

I would like to take this opportunity to recognize some RSO’s who have contributed 10 or more shifts so far this year.

Our heavy hitter Brian has won a free club dinner in June as a thank you for all your service to the club. Thank you to all the RSO’s who take shifts so that the members can enjoy our outstanding ranges.

If any member is interested in becoming a RSO, the club will be holding an RSO class on June 13th and 14th. Please reach out to Brian McCormick to sign up.

Junior Rifle Program

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming two wonderful families from the Coy Brook Farm English Hunter Jumper riding program as special guests for an impromptu Mother-Daughter training match.

For these ladies, it was their very first time handling a firearm. After a thorough safety orientation and hands-on basic marksmanship instruction, they took to the prone position on the firing line and quickly showed their natural talent. By the end of the evening, every participant was hitting bullseyes!

From the saddle to the shooting mat, it was inspiring to watch these mothers and daughters support and encourage one another while mastering a new skill. A huge thank you to everyone involved especially our patient RSO’s.

We welcome new shooters — whether you’re an experienced or a complete beginner, there’s a spot for you here Wednesday 6-8, Saturday 9-11.

15 minute break for refreshments in between each match.

We supply the target rifles, .22 ammo, eye and ear protection.

$10.00 donation.

Thank you for your support of our program.

Mike Grillo

The last day of shooting for the 2025/ 2026 season of Junior Rifle will be Saturday June 20th.

We've had a great season, with many returning and many more new shooters this year!

We look forward to seeing all Junior Rifle shooters when we start the 2026/ 2027 season in September.

    Volunteer

“Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does.”

    — William James

Bass River Rod & Gun Club thrives with active member participation. Despite an expanding volunteer base, we face a common challenge - 80% of the work is done by 20% of our members. To realize our full potential, members' time, talents, and dues are essential.

    Club Dinner

We need volunteers to assist with the monthly club dinner every third Friday of the month from 5 - 7 pm. No cooking required! If you're able to help, please contact Larry Lyford by clicking HERE.

    Wednesday Workers

Come to the main clubhouse any Wednesday at 8 am to help with various tasks around the club.

We need your help in filling the following positions:

Archery Instructor & Archery Assistants:  If you're an archery instructor, or willing to be trained as an instructor - or, if you are willing to help open and supervise the archery range on an alternating schedule, contact Bill DiNatale by clicking HERE.

Rifle Instructor & Jr. Rifle Assistants:  If you're a rifle instructor, or willing to be trained as an instructor to help with the Junior Rifle Program, contact Greg Gnadiek by clicking HERE.
