Two Things Heading into SeptemberFirst - Enjoy the Club and have fun
To Paraphrase the Club’s “Purpose” from our Constitution:
“The purpose of this Club shall be to promote good sportsmanship and good fellowship among sportspersons of all ages…”
September is here. It’s a great time of year to enjoy all the Club has to offer –
- Take a walk in the woods or put a boat into the pond.
- The ranges are in great shape – Archery range and trail, Indoor & Outdoor ranges, and the Shotgun Fields. Try a new shooting sport or practice what you already do.
- Try Archery.
- Catch some fish.
- Spend time talking to other members.
Second – Share in the workload of the Club
Another excerpt from the Club’s “Purpose” from our Constitution:
“… The active participation of each member is vital to the accomplishment of these objectives and to the life of the Club.”
The social aspect of the Club is kept alive by using and enjoying the Club, as suggested above. That’s fairly easy - you come and participate.
The physical aspect of the club is a little harder… you need to stay a bit after the fun and help with some of the thousands of things that keep the Club rolling along.
The 8 hours we all do when we join the Club is part of our orientation.
It is the beginning – not the end, of our “vital, active participation in the accomplishment of the Club’s objectives and life.”
Everything that happens at the club is done by a volunteer. We have no employees – only volunteers and we do it all.
My expectation is that we will all help to contribute to the good of the Club. Everyone needs to volunteer in some way. Big or small. Do what you can and continue doing it. The more everyone contributes, the easier it is for everyone to enjoy the club and have fun.
Empty the trash- sweep a range house- split some firewood-move clays-police brass-pull weeds-don’t leave until the machines are filled on the Shotgun ranges.
These are just a few of the things that can and need to be done every day without an organized work party or an ask…
Thank you for your help.
Have a great September, Enjoy the Club and Share in the Workload.
Sincerely,
Dan Paige Sr.
President

Bass River Rod & Gun Club 20th Annual Vet Shoot September 26th
|
|
|
This year we'll celebrate our 20th year welcoming America's veterans from the Brockton VA Medical Center to Bass River Rod & Gun Club for a day of rifle and shotgun shooting, a fabulous barbecue, and boundless gratitude for sacrifices made.
Each year the club turns out as many as 50 volunteers to help with the Vets, many of whom are from the Spinal Cord Injury Unit. The Vets benefit tremendously from a day with our members as they experience one of the very few times they are outside hospital grounds.
You do not need skills to volunteer for general help, but both the rifle and shotgun range do need skilled shooters (RSO’s, RO’s, SO’s) who know their way around a firing line and firearms setup from a benched and standing shooting position.
We already have some donated ammunition in-house and ready to go, but we need more - and firearms still need to be loaned for the day, as well as targets (plastic bottles, jugs). Rifles: AR style in 5.56 or .22 Long Rifle; Shotgun: Over & Under or Semi-Auto chambered in 12-gauge.
We've provided an incredible barbecue over the years - so expect the same terrific spread in 2025. Volunteers who like to sit, eat and chat with Vets during lunch are highly prized by the VA staff because they know these encounters with the Vets are priceless.
The volunteer schedule begins at 8:00AM on the rifle/pistol range, at 10:00AM for food volunteers, and at 11:00AM for shotgun volunteers.
Action Steps:
Contact Matt Bangert to volunteer for the day:
603-674-1550 mdb@rothandroth.com
Contact Julie Robillard for food and lunch help:
Home-baked sweets are especially prized!
774-279-6530 jrobillard35@comcast.net
Contact David Fogel to loan guns, donate ammo, or volunteer as an RSO:
774-238-9237 cmcfogeld@outlook.com
Note: Clean plastic jugs (1 gallon, 1/2 gallon, quart) can be left inside the club house or at any of the range houses. Donated ammo can be left with any range RSO.

"You are what you do, not what you say you'll do." - Carl Gustav Jung
|
Bass River Rod & Gun Club thrives with active member participation. Despite an expanding volunteer base, we face a common challenge - 80% of the work is done by 20% of our members. To realize our full potential, members' time, talents, and dues are essential.
We need your help in filling the following positions:
Donations Chair: this position coordinates the donations and scholarships provided by Bass River and schedules our blood drives
Social Media Chair: we're looking for a person who is willing to be trained and coached on doing the club newsletter and manage our social media pages.
Archery Instructor & Archery Assistants: If you're an archery instructor, or willing to be trained as an instructor - or, if you are willing to help open and supervise the archery range on an alternating schedule, contact Bill DiNatale by clicking HERE.
RifleInstructor & Jr. Rifle Assistants: If you're a rifle instructor, or willing to be trained as an instructor to help with the Junior Rifle Program, contact Greg Gnadiek by clicking HERE.
To hear more about these positions, please email us by clicking HERE.
