Shooting Range Orientation Program

In order to use the Indoor Range, the Outdoor Rifle and Pistol Ranges, members must complete the Safe Range Orientation Program. It is in two parts. The Program is staffed by NRA Certified Range Safety Officers. Keeping the Bass River firing ranges safe is the best way to ensure the continued operation of the Club. Classes are offered each month, weather permitting. Please refer to the club Calander for the class schedule.

Safety Orientation - Part I: Indoor Range

Members may not shoot at the indoor range until they have completed this program. This Course will run approximately 1 hour. It is limited to 15 participants due to time constraints.  Members must bring their own firearm (preferably a pistol), approximately 20 rounds of ammunition, eye and hearing protection and their current membership card. All firearms must be chambered in a pistol caliber, be unloaded and either cased or holstered.

Range Orientation - Part II: Outdoor Range

Members may not shoot at the outdoor range until they have completed this program. This Course will run approximately 1 hour. It is limited to 15 participants due to time constraints.  Members must bring their own firearm (preferably a pistol), approximately 20 rounds of ammunition, eye and hearing protection, and their current membership card. All firearms must be unloaded and either cased or holstered.

The Following Requirements Are In Effect For The Safe Range Orientation Program

All members must register before attending. Members should be familiar with the operation of the firearm they bring, including loading clearing and unloading. Adherence to all basic firearm safety rules including strict compliance with the 180 rule; i.e. sweeping the range, pointing the muzzle at anyone. Any member who would like some instruction before attending orientation can contact the education chair to arrange a Training session.
